Part of the PSC pre-departure course comprises a trip to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) this morning. That was the most interesting one thus far. =) The speaker was extremely engaging, enlightening us on the regional threats and challenges facing Singapore.
Toured around URA and was fascinated by the awesome models and technology being used to inform the public about general facts of landuse in Singapore. The machines and skycam were so interesting and interactive! :)
Here's some takeaway info from URA (considering the fact that my memory is failing too :x):
1) Current up-to-date land area of Singapore: 699.1 km square 2) What do Toa Payoh and Paya Lebar have in common? Both have common names. Translation in both hokkien and malay = swamps 3) Approximately how many people have been to SG's Changi Airport? 29 million thus far. 4) New bridge at Marina Bay projected to be ready in 2009. 5) 50% of Singapore's land area consists of water catchment areas. 6) Hawker centres are uniquely Singapore. 7) One concept plan takes several years to be completed.
By the way, I heard one of my manager slapped another manager and shouted at him for unknown reasons in public..and both were terminated from service :O So happening! Aye..can't believe I missed that out the first time I asked Jasmine to stand in for my shift! Shall find out more tomorrow during my last shift. :X

It's not that chocolates are a substitute for love. Love is a substitute for chocolate. Chocolate is, let's face it, far more reliable than a man. ~Miranda Ingram
