It has never been easy finding sincerity in people. The reason is not because everyone is always putting on a false front as a form of self-protection. As years swing into the seemingly perceived stage of adulthood where one is supposed to become more composed, more mature in thought and more rational, the element of truth in one dwindles. As we get exposed to a greater dose of life's harsh realities, one learns to keep the truth at bay, for the betterment of life's situations. Many people avoid telling the truth for fear of wrecking relationships, for fear of being deemed as "blunt" and "inconsiderate". I've never doubted the goodness in people for trying to keep their opinions of others silent, in case the other party gets offended. However at times you doubt the sincereity of others when they merely stuff positive feedbacks about you. Not that I'm trying to scourge for my shortcomings from people, but rather, it can be deemed as a farce at times. There's nothing wrong with being truthful, forthcoming and upfront. One can avoid being crude even if the truth and nothing but the truth is told. Frankness is very much appreciated in a society where boot-licking is rampant. I'm starting to fear life in the corporate world. Office politics. Backstabbing. The list goes on. Perhaps that's the reason why an adult values school life so much more than working life. The innocence and a smaller extent of fierce rivalry present in this micro-society that we are living in enable us to find sincere and true friends whom we can really depend on. Apparently, this short-lived happiness does not last. Eventually, one has to soar beyond the comfort zone and face the harsh realities. .The cruelties of life.
